University Games expands Murder Mystery Party Games portfolio

Published on: 25th January 2023

University Games has invested further in its best-selling Murder Mystery Party Games portfolio for 2023, following strong growth in the category.

Richard Wells, managing director of University Games and The Lagoon Group, sees great potential in this sector of the games and puzzles industry and commented: “Murder Mystery games have always been a staple in the University Games’ portfolio with the likes of the ever-popular Champagne Murders and Death By Chocolate. However, the last few years has seen a significant surge in interest in these sleuth-inspired games. With the increase in the cost of living, families are looking at alternatives to going out and new ways to entertain at home.”

“Games with the option of single player as well as multi player have also been on the rise, and our series of Case Files Mysteries and Mystery Puzzles ticks all these boxes,” added Richard.

Joining University Games’ extensive range for 2023 are three new Case Files that take mystery games to the next level. Mission: Black Hawk is an all immersive Multimedia experience, utilising AI. Black Hawk is a live mission to create and execute a plan to stop a cyberattack, using a mixture of physical and digital clues. New Case Files also include Murder Noir and The Night Hunter which is played over several chapters, each containing three primary objectives, with each chapter taking 30-60 minutes. The game contains web features where players can listen to witness testimonies and receive chilling messages from The Night Hunter.

University Games’ best-selling Murder Mystery range – that includes A Slice of Murder and Pasta, Passion and Pistols – has also been refreshed, with modern, eye-catching, cross -generation packaging and features everything needed for a crime busting evening with friends. The new Passport to Murder jigsaw puzzle requires players to create a crime board showing pieces of evidence by building the 750 piece puzzle as well as five 50 piece puzzles that contain essential additional evidence to help solve the crime and reveal the murderer.

The Lagoon Group also has two new titles which cater to the case-solving trend for this year. Gym Scream is a Murder Mystery inspired by Lagoon’s best-selling Complete Murder Mystery Night and presented in an elegantly finished drinks-style gift box, and the Escape Room Mystery Game, in a travel-size tin, will see players have to solve a mystery in every room of the house to escape – all from the comfort of their own home.

University Games full range of Murder Mystery Party Games can be seen at Toy Fair, Stand E50 and Spring Fair, Hall 4, Stand E30 – F31 and E24 – F25.
