The Very Group announces strong Christmas toy trading results

The Very Group has announced strong Christmas trading results, with toys sales up 8.1%.

Multi-category online retailer The Very Group has announced increased retail sales by 6.1% year-on-year in the seven weeks up to and including 27th December 2019, driven by growth across all product categories, with toy sales up 8.1%.

The retailer’s top five selling toy brands for Christmas 2019 were as follows:

1. L.O.L Surprise!
2. Lego
3. VTech
4. Barbie
5. Peppa Pig

Jeremy Stevens, category director – developing categories at The Very Group, said: “Toys remain a great growth opportunity for and we’re pleased with the 8.1% year-on-year retail sales growth delivered over peak in a tough market. We focused on offering our customers improved assortment, better availability, competitive pricing and the combination of the most popular toy brands and flexible ways to pay that we know they love.”

He added: “Thanks to our strategic partners for their support over peak. There were some real standout performers, and we look forward to building even better plans together for Christmas 2020.”
