VirtTrade launches new Premiership Rugby digital trading card collection

Published on: 5th January 2016

The new digital trading card collection will feature players from each of the 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs.

scrum480Scrum launches on both iOS and Android. Containing more than 2,000 individual cards, the collection will feature an assortment of different card sets, bios, social feeds, action highlights and specials. Certain cards will continually update game-time statistics for each round of Aviva Premiership Rugby throughout the season, and will feature full-season stats for each player.

Collectors will also be able to trade cards without restriction, with no limit to the amount of cards that can be offered in a swap deal. Scrum will be the first ever digital rugby collection, launching at a time when the sport has been buoyed by its most successful World Cup.

Dominic Hayes, commercial director at Premiership Rugby, said: “We are delighted to partner with VirtTrade as one of the first major sports to take advantage of the technology, which offers a platform allowing fans from all clubs to participate in this collection.”

Ross Walker, chief commercial officer at VirtTrade, said: “We are very pleased to have signed with Premiership Rugby, which from the outset understood the commercial capabilities the technology brings and the importance we place on delivering a first rate fan engagement platform. Our vision for what a second screen fan experience could represent will become apparent over the coming season.”
