VTech announces InnoTab 2

Published on: 30th July 2012

VTech has announced the launch of the much anticipated InnoTab 2, an evolution of the InnoTab.

VTech has also signed several partnership agreements, which will give InnoTab owners access to a huge library of videos of TV programmes, mini e-books and music content. The move will enable kids to make the most of the fact that, unique in preschool tablets, the InnoTab 2 has expandable memory.

The content, from the Learning Lodge Navigator (LLN), will boast hundreds of downloads including TV shows, music or e-books featuring a long list of children’s favourite characters and artists such as Peppa Pig, Wallace & Gromit,  Shaun the Sheep and Thomas & Friends as well as a host of famous artists from the Sony Music catalogue. The new downloads will be available from mid-August on InnoTab 2.

The new InnoTab 2 (4-9 years) boasts a built-in 1.3 mega pixel camera with a rotating ‘self-portrait’ lens allowing children to put their favourite subject – themselves – in the frame. Children will be able to take their own picture, use the editing suite to add special effects to it and then use their photo in various games, in a similar way to the ever successful Kidizoom camera.

As well as all the functions consumers have come to love in the InnoTab, such as the video player, art studio, G sensor, learning apps and online benefits via the Learning Lodge Navigator, the InnoTab 2 will also feature a built-in microphone for enhanced gameplay and video recording. What’s more, cool learning apps and online benefits can be easily downloaded via the Learning Lodge Navigator with the two free tokens that come with InnoTab 2 and the internal 2GB memory can be easily expanded with a built in SD card memory reader.

VTech is also launching a range of new and exciting InnoTab software cartridges which will include Brave, Hello Kitty, Thomas & Friends and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Each gaming cartridge comes with one fully animated e-book, three learning games and two creative activities, for hours of fun.

With the enhanced capabilities of the InnoTab2, the new software cartridges are more interactive than ever. Selected software will have additional creative activities which allow children to take a picture of themself and add in fun effects and character frames.

Clive Richardson, marketing director of VTech Electronics Europe, said: “VTech is proud to launch the much anticipated InnoTab 2 with some great new hardware features. The product’s expandable memory continues to give us a fantastic opportunity to entertain the young user at a whole new level and the downloadable video, music and e-book content will allow kids to get even more hours of enjoyment from their InnoTab. Already topping most Christmas ‘must have toys’ lists, we are certain that InnoTab 2 will be a sure fire hit for the important Christmas sales period in 2012.”
