WH Smith to relocate head office

Published on: 7th January 2016

WH Smith is searching for a new headquarters as its current base is “no longer fit for purpose and in a state of disrepair”, it has been reported.

The Swindon Advertiser reported that the retail chain, which is based in the town, is looking to relocate from its current headquarters.

The firm is looking to remain close to its current location, although a move away could not be ruled out if talks with council planners fall through.

A spokesman for WH Smith said: “We can confirm that we are currently in discussion with Swindon Borough Council regarding the possibility of relocating our head office to a building that is more suitable for our needs.”

Planning applications have been submitted to build 134 homes, a nursery and a care home on the current WH Smith site.
