Windsor lands its own official Monopoly board

Published on: 21st May 2018

World famous landmarks like Windsor Castle are set to star in the new game, which will hit shop shelves in early October.

Each of the famous Monopoly spaces from the London original – 28 in all – will be getting a Royal Windsor makeover, and many of the Chance and Community Chest cards will also be Royal Windsor themed too. Players could be sent back three spaces for getting stuck in traffic during the daily Changing of the Guard in Windsor, or could be rewarded for taking a picture of a royal wedding couple at Windsor Castle.

Jennifer Lau from Winning Moves UK, which is producing the game under official licence from Monopoly owners Hasbro, commented: “We are going to be spoilt for choice for landmarks to fill this board. This very special edition will go into production to be ready in time for this Christmas and will hit shop shelves this October.”

She continued: “As the delights of Royal Windsor are being showcased now to hundreds of millions, we thought it only right the best 28 are immortalised this year – forever – on a Royal Windsor Monopoly board. The game will be sold not just in Windsor shops but to the world online. We reckon it could be our most extensive seller.”

Landmarks that could star on the board include Windsor Castle, The Long Walk and the High Street.

The game itself will be themed in sets from heritage to tourism, culture to shopping, education to business, and sport to media. The four train stations on the original Monopoly will be handed over to a ‘travel’ set.
