Children can pick up one of eight new titles free using a special £1 World Book Day Book Token, which will be handed out in schools throughout February and March, at any Smyths Toys Superstores throughout the UK. The tokens also entitle the bearer to £1 off the range of books and annuals which the toy superstore carries.

The toy retailer is also holding a fancy dress competition in stores nationwide on March 7th and is encouraging everyone to come dressed as their favourite book character to be in with a chance of winning prizes.

Dryden Geary, marketing manager for Smyths Toys Superstores, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have another brilliant range of top children’s writing talent sharing new stories especially for World Book Day 2013 and we hope to make Smyths Toys Superstores the place to start and build every young reader’s book collection. We also want to encourage budding bookworms to come and visit any of our stores on March 7th dressed as their favourite book character and amaze us with their style.”
