Greek toy retailer Jumbo sees profits rise

Published on: November 24th, 2015

The toy and homeware retailer posted a 9% rise in net profit for the first quarter to the end of September.

Sales kept growing in October and November after rising by 4.9% to €152.6m in the three months from July to September.

Jumbo, which operates 53 department stores in Greece and 20 in Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania, said first-quarter net profit rose to €21.8m euros from €20m in the same period last year.

The company’s stronger sales have more than offset higher taxation.
