Mookie celebrates double win at Australian Toy Awards

Published on: 12th March 2019

The Tybo brand took home Craft & Activity Toy of the Year, while #Snapstar bagged Doll of the Year.

The Tybo Design Studio won Craft & Activity Toy of the Year at this year’s award ceremony, leaving distributor Mookie Toys delighted with the brand’s international performance.

Tybo – a mess free tie-dye experience that gives children great results every time – launched last year, and has gone from strength to strength since. The Tybo Tidy Tie-Dye Design Studio comes with a patented and easy-to-use magic mixing orb, utilising a one-way valve system. The one-way valve allows the dye into the orb, whilst stopping the dye from escaping back out.

This year Mookie Toys is launching the new Tybo Print Studio, bringing more fun and creativity to tie-dye activities. The Tybo Print Studio lets children personalise and decorate their tie-dyed items by using screen printing and stencils to create patterns and pictures.

A second brand from Mookie’s UK portfolio also gained a win in Australia this year, with #Snapstar, by Yulu, crowned Doll of the Year. Lola, Aspen, Dawn, Yuki, Echo and Izzy are part of a fresh new fashion doll brand that’s slated to define what’s new and next for girls ages 5-11. In today’s ‘tween world of YouTube and social engagement, the #Snapstar brand promises to connect with ‘tween fans in a way they can really relate to.

Thanks to the free #Snapstar Studio app, ‘tweens can turn their doll into a social media star. Kids can take a photo of their doll and use the customising tools on the app to add make up, change the hairstyle and more. Photos can be saved to a users’ camera roll for sharing with friends and family or posting to social media.

Mookie anticipates a successful launch of #Snapstar in May with Smyths, marking a strong start to the partnership  between Mookie and Yulu.
