Sales Manager Canada

Background

Our client is one of the UK’s largest independently owned designers and manufacturers of children’s toys, with extensive experience supplying the world’s major retailers. Their diverse product and brand portfolio allows them to cover most retail channels, with a focus on toy specialists/distributors, hyper/supermarkets and value/discount retailers.

A Sales Manager for Canada is to be recruited to generate and grow sales and to achieve targets relating to sales revenue, gross margin and other key performance indicators set by the vice president of International Sales.

The Sales Manager Canada will be responsible for direct sales to retailers and sales to distributors in Canada and selected accounts in the USA.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and implement market/customer centric strategies to achieve sales/margin budgets and gain market share. Identify key retail/distributor accounts and create product and sales strategies to acquire their business. Develop and maintain good professional relationships with a small existing account base.
  • Obtain in depth understanding of the retail landscape and competitive structure of the market.
  • Gain clear understanding of customers’ businesses and requirements.
  • Put together and present new ranges to customers at trade fairs, at the customer’s premises or virtually.
  • Implement global pricing matrix at local level, adapting product specifications and delivery terms following central MOQ guidelines and requirements.
  • Create detailed proposal documents and presentations.
  • Represent the company at trade exhibitions.

Specification of ideal candidate

Competencies, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Fluent English. French would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Successful previous experience in Canada as a key account manager or national sales manager, ideally in toys.
  • Advanced analytical skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills paired with an in depth understanding of price structure and margin requirements.
  • Hands on, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • A permanent drive to hunt for new business and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills when working with customers, team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations and develop efficient problem-solving approaches.
  • Available to travel within Canada and the US and also occasionally to the UK and Hong Kong.

Reporting

This position reports to the VP International Sales.

Location

The Sales Manager Canada will work from home, and travel to visit customers.

Remuneration

The response from the marketplace will determine the level of salary and bonus which will be necessary to attract suitable candidates.
