Hamleys celebrates 262nd birthday over Bank Holiday weekend

The iconic toy retailer Hamleys celebrated its 262nd birthday in style over the Bank Holiday weekend, with help from kids and families.

Hamleys 262nd birthdayHamleys invited consumers to celebrate over the August Bank Holiday weekend, with party games galore, plus balloons and cake on offer for guests who attended the retailer’s 262nd birthday bash.

Celebrating over 260 years of magic and wonder, Hamleys is continuing to help families make memories to last a lifetime in its legendary toy shops, and says it is ‘looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays over the coming centuries’.

Families who visited Hamleys’ Regent Street store at the weekend were invited to walk down the red carpet and experience an extra-special opening ceremony with the birthday boy himself, Hamley Bear, before heading upstairs to discover an icy Frozen castle and bake an iced party cake for everyone to enjoy. Attendees could also enjoy a range of party games and try their luck at pinning the bow on Hamley Bear. A popular Birthday parade featuring all Hamleys’ best friends also took place on all three days.

Before the guests left, they could visit the Fun Conductor to collect a Token of Fun and a balloon or two. The retailer also ran a competition which gave consumers the opportunity to win a £50 shop.

Joining the world famous Hamley Bear at the Hamley’s 262nd birthday celebrations, was the Lego Super Mario team – Mario, Luigi and Princess Peaches – who were also invited. Visitors could play, build and test out the new Lego Super Mario play sets in the special Lego Build area all weekend.
