As Head of Brand Licensing EMEA, you will oversee our highly talented EMEA Licensing team to develop and bring exciting consumer products programmes to life for Sega IP that deliver revenue, drive awareness and the boost engagement of fans throughout EMEA. In this role, you will work on some of the biggest brands in all of Gaming and Entertainment, including Sonic the Hedgehog and many more. With our EMEA consumer products business set for significant growth with the advent of multiple large global partnerships and a rapidly growing stable of new domestic and international licensees, you will play an integral role in our growth and the development of our high-performing EMEA team.

Why You:

You are a seasoned licensing professional with significant experience in Entertainment and Gaming licensing, and you have an excellent understanding of character licensing and kids IP management. You have a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing consumer products licensing teams, utilising your experience, passion for quality and understanding of the Gaming and Entertainment industries to maximise success.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Brand Licensing based in Los Angeles to develop a global consumer products strategy that provides reach and scalability in licensing revenue for Sega IP.
  • Adapt the global licensing strategy for various Sega IP to become the EMEA licensing strategy, which includes goals and objectives that will deliver the annual targets.
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Director of Brand Licensing to update on status of the business, report on the performance of the EMEA business, highlight the status of licensing deals and present targeted projections.
  • Manage the relationship and strategy will all agency partners, ensuring they are providing strategy and quarterly updates to Sega.
  • Implement processes that will enable the team and business to operate at maximum efficiency.
  • Provide support and mentorship to the EMEA Licensing by leading regular team meetings, conducting weekly 1:1 meetings with business leads, and by keeping the team informed about EMEA licensing-related updates, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Oversee the execution of all licensing documents and clearances (NDAs, deal memos, merchandise licence agreements, amendments, etc.) and manage licensing contracts.
  • Meet with cross-functional teams on a monthly basis (accounting, legal, finance, etc).
  • Collaborate with vendors to negotiate favourable licence agreements, including terms, conditions and royalty structures that align with the organisation’s needs and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all licences and related agreements.
  • Act as a conduit between the US and EMEA Licensing teams, championing communication and collaboration between the teams to drive global business performance.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience in outbound consumer products licensing and team management.
  • Considerable experience in entertainment or gaming licensing specifically.
  • Previous full P&L responsibility with forecast/reporting oversight.
  • Ability to mentor and guide manager/senior manager level employees to deliver yearly targets.
  • Strong proficiency in handling licensing contracts and fluency in negotiating key business terms.
  • Strong knowledge of the retail landscape and various channels from value to department.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to articulate clearly and convincingly to internal and external business partners.
  • Excellent contract management experience, using dependable solutions or an equivalent contract management system.
