The Toy Trust has donated £50,000 to Whizz Kidz following the success of its May Mayhem initiative.

Throughout May, toy companies and organisations took part in the Toy Trust’s challenge to get moving while fundraising. This included walking thousands of kilometres and cycling for 12 hours.

Whizz Kidz is the leading UK children’s mobility charity, which provides essential mobility equipment for disabled children and young people throughout the country. It has been suggested there are currently up to 70,000 disabled children in the UK who do not currently have access to the necessary mobility equipment they need. The Toy Trust’s £50,000 donation will enable Whizz Kidz to provide essential equipment to those children and young people who need it most.

The Toy Trust committee chairman, Graham Canning, said: “It is clear that Whizz Kidz is a truly incredible charity, and the work that it does clearly motivated all those that took part in this year’s May Mayhem event. It is both moving and inspiring to see the joy and independence children and young people achieve through new mobility equipment – which the Toy Trust is so proud to be able to support. It is a very deserving charity which we have been pleased to partner with this year.”

Tom Earle, from the Whizz Kidz fundraising team added: “With the generous £50,000 donation from The Toy Trust, we will be able to continue to make a profound difference in the lives of young wheelchair users across the UK. Every mobility equipment we provide opens doors to opportunities, enabling children to experience the world with newfound freedom and confidence. Together with The Toy Trust, we’re transforming lives and creating a brighter future in a society where every young wheelchair user is mobile, enabled and included.”
