Wigwam Toys in Brighton reopens

Published on: 16th November 2023

Wigwam Toys in Brighton has reopened with a new owner, in time for the local community to shop for Christmas toys and gifts.

The toy shop announced it was closing earlier this year, as owners Clair Letton and Jesse Marshall decided to shut up shop following what they described as a tough period for the retail sector over the last few years. The couple had run the store since 2013, and hailed “an amazing 10 years”, saying they would miss being a part of the local Fiveways community.

However, as reported in The Argus, Wigwam Toys has now reopened under the ownership of Katharine Butcher, who previously worked in a neighbouring store to Wigwam. The shop reopened this month and has been welcoming back customers old and new.

Speaking to The Argus, Katharine said: “Thank you to everyone who came to see us yesterday to say hi and to see what we have done with the shop. We had such an amazing first day and here’s to many more days like that.”

The shop has had a makeover since it was vacated, and is now welcoming customers with its new look and a festive Christmas window, with a Christmas tree and sacks of toys designed to get shoppers in the mood for Christmas shopping.

An official grand re-opening will take place on Saturday 18th Nov when customers are invited to enjoy cupcakes, unleash their inner artist on the store’s epic dinosaur tablecloth, dive into the six second scribble challenge and meet Mary Poppins. As well as checking out what the store has to offer, there will also be the chance to win a prize in the raffle.

The store has a facebook page here, and can be contacted on Wigwamtoys@btinternet.com.
