The family-owned independent jigsaw puzzle and board games company has attained a B Corp certification, joining the ranks of socially and environmentally responsible businesses.

Gibsons Games

Gibsons Games has announced that it has achieved B Corp certification meaning the company is now part of a global community of businesses that meet the highest standards of social an environmental impact.

The certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit organisation that assesses companies based on their impact on workers, community, environment and customers. To achieve this certification, Gibsons underwent a comprehensive evaluation of its business practices, including its governance, operations, supply chain and social and environmental practices, and was required to meet a minimum score on the B Impact Assessment.

“We are absolutely thrilled to achieve B Corp certification, as it reflects our longstanding commitment to having a positive impact on the world around us”, said Kate Gibson, managing director at Gibsons Games. “Being part of the movement means that with every jigsaw puzzle and board game, as well as bringing joy to our customers, we and they can be sure we are meeting the highest standards of social and environmental impact.’’

Gibsons has taken a number of steps to demonstrate its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, such as launching special edition jigsaw puzzles where a percentage of profits are donated to charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital. In a strategic move, Gibsons has localised its manufacturing by moving away from production in China and working with factories based in the EU and UK, while also incorporating solar panels in its office and recycling 85% of its waste. These efforts complement the company’s commitment to delivering First Class customer service.

As a B Corp, Gibsons joins a growing community of more than 3,000 certified firms across 150 industries and 70 countries, including well-known brands such as Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, and The Body Shop.
