New Lego Store opens at the Trafford Centre

Published on: 17th November 2023

The Lego Group has officially opened its second UK Lego Store in Manchester, at the Trafford Centre, with a grand opening attended by celebrities.

The Hartley family officially opens the new LEGO Store, Manchester.

As announced back in August this year, The Lego Group has opened the doors to its second store in Greater Manchester. Located in the iconic Trafford Centre, the new 267sqm outlet is already delighting fans of all ages, who gathered excitedly to catch the official opening.

The night before, local celebs including Leah Galton, Toni Duggan and Jazmine Franks were given an exclusive look inside the store.

Guests were treated with extravagant builds and offers, whilst enjoying product favourites such as Lego City, Lego Friends and Lego Ninjago, plus retail exclusives such as the Lego Icons Natural History Museum and Lego Marvel Avengers Tower sets.

Paying homage to the local community, the new store showcases an intricate, eye-catching big build of Manchester’s emblem – a giant Lego worker bee, which features 5372 Lego bricks and took 68 hours to complete.

The new Lego Store features a range of experiences including a Lego Pick a Brick Wall, Hands-on Play Opportunities, Build a Minifigure Tower and expert Store Associates.

Amy Pearson, director, EMEA Marketing at Lego Retail, said: “We love bringing new Lego Stores to our fans and local communities. We searched long and hard for the perfect place to open our second Greater Manchester store, but the Trafford Centre was just right. We’re looking forward to bringing our much-loved sets and play experiences to Lego fans of all ages to Manchester’s iconic Trafford Centre.”

Simon Layton, Centre director at Trafford Centre, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have opened the doors to a brand-new Lego Store in the Trafford Centre. It’s been great to see so many people turn up to celebrate this opening with us, including a whole host of local celebrities, media and families. We’re confident our community is going to love the play experiences this fun and colourful store has to offer.”

This new store is the 19th Lego Store in the UK and brings with it the creation of over 25 new jobs. It follows an extremely successful year for The Lego Group, opening stores in the newly renovated Battersea Power Station and another Irish store in Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin Ireland.
