ITV’s This Morning features retro toys for Christmas

Published on: 14th December 2023

The morning show featured a selection of retro themed lines, offering a further boost to toy sales in the run up to Christmas.

The segment reported that, despite a raft of innovation in the current toy market, more and more people are going back to the old toys they used to know and love. These toys have stood the test of time, something which parents and gift givers find a particularly appealing quality in the current economic climate. Steve Wilson took viewers on a trip down memory lane to highlight a selection of the best retro toys that have made a comeback just in time for Christmas.

The segment follows a recent feature which focused on ITV’s selected top toys for Christmas.

The top retro toys selected were:

  • Furby Interactive Plush – Hasbro
  • Sky Dancers Doll – Vivid Goliath
  • The Original Fuzzy-Felt Farm Animals – John Adams
  • Sylvanian Families Toys – Epoch Making Toys
  • Mr Frosty The Crunchy Ice Maker – Flair
  • Brio World 65th Anniversary Train Set – Ravensburger
  • Tamagotchi Uni – Bandai
  • Tiny Tears Teeny Baby – John Adams
  • Screwball Scramble Level Up – Tomy
  • Big Time Moon Shoes – Character Options
  • Monster High Doll Cleo De Nile – Mattel
  • Polly Pocket – Mattel

Lesley Singleton, of Playtime PR, commented: “Team Playtime smashing the national broadcast coverage again today – with just 12 days til Christmas, we’re ramping up the nostalgia with both Tamagotchi and Sylvanian Families being featured on ITV’s This Morning. Wish we could claim the bonus points for Steve’s choice of Tamagotchi-emblazoned jumper!”

Meanwhile, Emma Arthur of Norton PR was delighted to see SkyDancers, FuzzyFelt and TinyTears featured in the item. “Brilliant to see not one, but three clients’ products included as part of the Retro Toys feature on This Morning today,” she said. “Some real blasts from the past in the list which we have worked on as an agency over the years, which brought back some fantastic memories.”

Details of the full list can be found on the ITV This Morning website.
