Playmobil welcomes Klingon Bird-of-Prey to Star Trek range

Published on: 9th September 2022

The new Playmobil Klingon Bird-of-Prey joins the Playmobil U.S.S. Enterprise, allowing fans to recreate the seminal battle between Commander Kruge and Captain Kirk.

To celebrate international Star Trek Day, which took place yesterday (8th September), Playmobil announced the newest addition to its popular Star Trek range, the Klingon Bird-of-Prey.

Arriving on-shelf from October onwards, the Klingon Bird-of-Prey expands the Playmobil Star Trek universe. This authentic replica of the HMS Bounty, as she was ultimately christened by Dr. McCoy, comes with figures of the notorious Klingon Commander Kruge and his crew, Officer Maltz, Torg and other Klingons. Captain Kirk and young Spock are also present.

Star Trek fans will know that the heavily armed battleship of the Klingon Defense Forces and its crew, under Kruge’s leadership, hijacked the Enterprise and were destroyed with it shortly thereafter. After Admiral Kirk defeated Commander Kruge in battle, he and his crew took over the Bird-of-Prey.

The roof of the ship’s bridge is removable and there is room for two Klingons inside, while the wings on the side of the spaceship can be angled into three different positions – attack, flight and landing – and there are functioning cannons on the side. Light and sound effects from the series provide an authentic Star Trek feeling and various displays are available for the monitor. The power supply for the lighting is provided via a battery or USB port. The set also comes with a stand and hanging device for secure mounting.

The new Playmobil set means it’s now possible to accurately stage the iconic battle between the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Klingon Commander’s Bird-of-Prey: the Playmobil U.S.S. Enterprise model launched worldwide on 8th September last year. Alternatively, it can be used to embark on completely new space adventures.
