Fence Club Autumn Fine Dining event raises over £25k

Published on: 16th September 2022

This year’s Autumn Fine Dining evening took place at The Hibernian Club in Dublin, marking the Fence Club’s first Irish event.

The Fence Club hosted its autumn dinner on 8th September. Over 40 members and their guests gathered at the prestigious Stephen’s Green club in Dublin, established in 1840, where a black-tie evening saw diners enjoy a lavish reception, a five-course dinner, coffee and drinks.

Chairman, David Bramford, summed up the event by saying: “It was a wonderful evening at an amazing venue and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was especially pleasing to hold our first ever Fence Club function in Ireland, partly in recognition of Philip Richardson and Ciaran Fitzpatrick’s contributions to the Fence Club. The Irish hospitality was first class.”

In the typical Fence Club spirit of support and generosity, donations made on the night mean that over £25,000 was able to be thoughtfully allocated to worthwhile charities. These were selected at a committee meeting held earlier the same day.

This latest event is just one of the many ways in which the Fence Club charity raises funds for children. In March, members and friends adapted the club motto, “to strive mightily”, when they decided to “stride mightily” on a walking challenge to support local children’s charities and children in the Ukraine.

In June, the club held its annual Teddy Simmonds Golf Day at the Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate. Together with the popular Fence Club fine dining evenings and the annual Winter Ball, held in London in December, the organisers say they are proud to describe the club’s well-attended events as “a chance to get together as an industry for some friendship and fundraising.”
