Character World renews Minecraft licence

Published on: 28th February 2020

The renewal of the licence comes as the business continues an ambitious international growth drive.

Character World has renewed its European licence to design and produce a Minecraft bedroom range for a further three years. The Manchester-based business is producing Minecraft textiles for retailers in all countries across the European region and the UK.

Minecraft has seen a surge in popularity for Character World, which is expected to grow even further with the release of new games in 2020 across mobile and PC.

Tim Kilby, brand director at Character World, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be partnering with Microsoft, Mojang and CAA-GBG for a further three years. Gaming continues to be a big category for Character World, with Minecraft being a huge part of this, reaching evergreen status in the marketplace after 10 fantastic years. Minecraft has continued to grow, and we anticipate even greater sales next year from the brand as we roll out new products and more designs to more and more territories. With Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons launching this year, we believe this is just the start of the journey for Minecraft in our category. Our product ranges demonstrate our love for the franchise and our commitment to delivering new and exciting ideas”
