Demand for toys to keep children entertained at home, or to aid home-learning, have resulted in a very strong performance for online specialist BargainMax.

BargainMax logoWith much of the country spending the winter period in various tiered restrictions, and now a third national lockdown in place, it seems parents are continuing to invest in toys to keep their children entertained. Online discount toy retailer BargainMax has reported a +92% increase in turnover across its website in 2020 compared to 2019. Year on year sales revenue was at its highest during the months of October, November and December, with sales +60% higher than in 2019. BargainMax is also reporting an +85% increase  in website traffic, while the data shows that there has been a +102% percent increase in active customers compared to the previous year.

With schools across the country closed and children being encouraged to learn from home, BargainMax has also reported a significant rise in sales of STEM toys and Arts & Crafts products. Daniel Mckay, head of Digital for Bargain Max, believes the demand for educational products has contributed to the ongoing trends.

“Christmas was a very busy period for online retailers,” he said. “We have discovered similar trends seen in the very first lockdown. Our low cost products are great value for money and have given the business the edge in helping us attract new customers. Looking ahead, I think we’ll see a repeat of the March lockdown in 2020, which saw parents purchasing toys and games to keep their kids entertained and also provide some fun learning whilst at home. Early data gathered since the third lockdown started shows this to be the case.”
