Mood Bears help children express their feelings

Published on: 9th November 2021

Each Mood Bear has been designed to represent one of the key emotions or moods and has the international symbol for that mood embroidered on its feet.

Mental well-being has moved further into the spotlight since the start of the pandemic, and Mood Bears is hoping its cuddly toys will help children express how they are feeling.

The company says that since 2004, there has been a steady decline in mental well-being in the UK, with recent statistics showing a 48% elevation in the mental health needs of children and young people.

The need to promote emotional well-being starts at birth, it says, when the connection and attachment people have to others and their environment is key, and it recognises that children, and some adults, feel certain emotions but don’t know how to express themselves with words.

Mood Bears are cuddly bears which provide a fun way to not only support children and adults as they negotiate all manner of emotions, but have become a tool that can be used to teach and educate children about their feelings too.

There are eight bears in total and a Mood Bear book. Each of the Mood Bears comes with its own personal poem to help understand and talk about emotions, feelings and thoughts

Each bear has been designed to represent one of the key emotions or moods and has the international symbol for that mood embroidered on its feet.

The bears are all brightly coloured and are made of a soft material, making them perfect for children to recognise, associate with and cuddle to help them express themselves. The bears are suitable for all ages and made from 100% recycled materials.

The Mood Bears story book focuses on Sad Bear and how he can help to deal with loss or bereavement, which is perfect for children or anyone struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one.
