Event Merchandising to bring Pocket Planet retail to Oxford Street

Published on: 5th September 2023

Event Merchandising has been appointed as retail operator for the new Pocket Planet indoor miniature world attraction, arriving at London’s Oxford Street next year.

Pocket Planet will be the UK’s largest indoor miniature world: an immersive experience which will take visitors on a journey through the UK and around the world. A premier 30,000 square-foot experiential attraction, the experience will be located at 500 Oxford Street, with a passing footfall of over 150m per year

The immersive journey through Pocket Planet miniverse includes iconic buildings, landmarks and landscapes. Visitors will see London itself, stunning places in the UK, a fully working airport and captivating scenes from around the globe. Interactive and filled with moving planes, trains, boats, bikes and vehicles – all brought to life with the latest audio-visual technology – this will be an immersive journey like no other for visitors of all ages.

Warren Traeger, head of partnerships at Event, said: “Pocket Planet will be bringing something totally new, unique and highly entertaining to London’s West End, combining a must see attraction with immersive and experiential retailing concepts. We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the Pocket Planet team and look forward to developing a retail experience focused on modelling & crafting, miniatures and collectibles for all ages. This will be a toy and gift shop unlike any other and we are already getting incredible responses from companies we have been engaging with.”

Pocket Planet will open for retail in late spring 2024, with the attraction officially opening in early 2025. Event Merchandising is already engaging leading toy companies and brands to discuss their involvement in this unique and permanent new destination attraction on Europe’s busiest shopping street.

Leo Vlassopulos, head of marketing and IP development at Pocket Planet, added: “Pocket Planet plans to hit 1m annual ticketed visitors within three years, and to capitalise on its AAA location at 500 Oxford Street for millions more shoppers. We know retail is of critical importance and integral to the overall Pocket Planet experience, so we are delighted to have Event Merchandising driving every aspect of retail, from the design of the store and its product mix to branded merchandise and partnerships. Event’s unique skill set, from events to pop ups, is exactly what we need to make sure we appeal to our discretionary shoppers and spenders – and to offer a powerful set of brands and hard to find products.”
