Paramount announces Action Man movie

Published on: 12th February 2018

Action Man is being turned into a film, joining the ranks of other Hasbro toy brands brought to life on the big screen.

Launched in 1966 by Palitoy, Action Man is the British version of Hasbro’s 1964 G.I. Joe. G.I. Action Man has previously inspired two animated TV series, in 1995 and 2000.

James Bobin has been appointed as director, having previously directed The Muppets and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Screenwriter Simon Farnaby, who earned a Bafta nomination for his work on Paddington 2, will write the script.

Originally introduced as a soldier in army uniform, the toy has been redesigned several times over the years, appearing without a uniform as a sailor or astronaut.
