The Mancunian actress and star of Coronation Street, plus the upcoming Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder, has lent her voice to the titular mouse, Angelina Ballerina.

Tonies has announced the launch of Angelina Ballerina for the Toniebox, narrated by British TV star Catherine Tyldesley. The new Tonie includes 10 captivating stories about Angelina, a mouse with aspirations to become a famous ballerina.

Commenting on her narration of the new Tonie, Catherine Tyldesley said: “We’re huge fans of the Toniebox in our house, so I was delighted when the Tonies team asked me to narrate the new Angelina Ballerina Tonie. It was so much fun to record and Alfie was really excited to hear mummy’s voice reading the Angelina Ballerina story on his new Tonie. He listens to his Toniebox every day, and I have to confess I often leave it playing even after he has fallen asleep.”

Catherine says her family is ‘spoilt for choice’ by the amount of Tonies available, which give users access to a library packed with stories, songs and educational content. She adds: “Many little boys and girls dream of becoming a ballerina – hopefully these stories will spark their imagination. The message in these stories is about not giving up, something I like to instil in my own children. I’m honoured to have been asked to voice these books and thrilled to be part of the magic with the new Angelina Ballerina Tonie.”

With pirouettes and pliés aplenty, the new Tonie takes kids on a ballet dancing adventure with Angelina as she meets a princess, attends a royal wedding, and celebrates her birthday in magical Mouseland. The successful Angelina Ballerina children’s book series includes 60 titles, written by author Helen Holarbird. In addition to the new Tonie, Helen’s stories have also been made into two animated TV series and adapted as a touring ballet. The Angelina Ballerina Tonie retails for £14.99 and has a runtime of approximately 60 minutes.
