Smyths celebrates Barbie’s 60th anniversary

Smyths Toys Superstores partnered with the iconic doll brand for a ‘You Can Be Anything’ event.

To celebrate Barbie’s 60th anniversary, Smyths Toys Superstore in Staples Corner and several locations throughout the UK hosted a ‘You Can Be Anything’ Barbie event on Saturday 9th March and Sunday 10th March. Cupcake Surprise Toys joined in, attending the event on the Saturday. Over the two days, an estimated total 3,000 attendees turned up to celebrate at eight different locations throughout the UK.

Visitors enjoyed face painting, parent and child play and learn areas, and free goodie bags that included a Chelsea doll and a copy of the Barbie magazine. There were also photo opportunities to mark the special occasion. The first 100 attendees to purchase a Barbie product to the value of £9.99 also received a free photo frame.

Smyths Toys joint head of marketing, Sinead Byrne, commented: “We are thrilled to have hosted our ‘You Can Be Anything’ Barbie event in selected stores throughout the UK. Celebrating Barbie’s 60th anniversary is an amazing milestone and an inspiring message to send out to young children for their future; that they can be anything.”
