Gibsons takes on the #Gibsons100 Challenge to raise money for Jigsaw4U

Published on: 4th July 2019

The challenge commemorates 100 years of Gibsons and will raise money for children’s charity Jigsaw4U.

2019 is a special year for Gibsons, as it marks 100 years since it first began trading as a British family business back in 1919. To celebrate this momentous milestone, the Gibsons team are undertaking the #Gibsons100 challenge, which encourages every Gibsons member to take part in a challenge or act of kindness to commemorate 100 years of Gibsons and raise money for children’s charity Jigsaw4U.

Kate Gibson, Gibsons’ managing director, said: “So far, we have celebrated our 100th anniversary with a party, drinks and lots and lots of cake. Although this is a great way to celebrate, it is also extremely important to us that we give something back to our local community. Our team have come together to raise money for Jigsaw4U, a wonderful charity that helps children and young people put the pieces back together by providing bereavement counselling and supporting those who have been affected by crime.”

The team are partaking in an array of different challenges. Kate is planning to conquer her fear of heights and undertake a 100 foot abseil at Peacehaven Cliffs with sales agent Stuart Nicholas and the rest of the Gibsons family, including Kate’s nine year old daughter and her father Michael, the chairman at Gibsons.

Bob, Gibsons’ sales agent, completed a 100-mile cycle in Mallorca and climbed more than 35,000 foot. He is also training for a marathon which will take place in October. Several members took part in the Toy Trust Triathlon in June, running 10k, swimming 750m and cycling for 40 miles. Other members are taking on The Thames Bridge Trek which is a 25km walk across famous bridges throughout central London. Becky, Gibsons’ marketing assistant completed the Marsden March on the 19th May, the 15 mile walk between the two hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton. And amidst all the celebratory cake and goodies, two brave members decided to give up sugar for 100 days – all for a good cause.
