Lego launches The Pop-Up Book

Published on: 19th October 2018

The Lego Group has announced the arrival of the latest Lego Ideas set, The Pop-Up Book.

The launch of this brand-new Lego Ideas set coincides with the 10th anniversary of Lego Ideas on 8th November, and brings to life the classic fairy tales Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk in brick form for the first time. The set will be available directly from Lego Stores and the Lego website from 1st November.

The innovative new addition to the Lego Ideas collection features 859 bricks and lets fans build Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother’s cottage, or the giant’s castle in the clouds at the top of Jack’s beanstalk.

This new imaginative toy features a simple mechanism that pops up when the book open’s and the fairy tales come to life; close the book and the story folds away. The main scene and surrounding details can be completely personalised to tell any story; a cottage in the woods, jungle ruins, medieval castle, wild west building, space station or even a pirate ship.

It also includes four brand new Lego Minifigures – Little Red Riding Hood, Grandmother, the Wolf, the Giant, and one new microfigure of Jack – as well as a booklet with a short history of pop-up books, a condensed history of each fairy tale in the set, and information about its fan designers and Lego designer.

This year marks Lego Ideas’ milestone 10 years of crowdsourcing and collaboration between Lego Ideas and Lego fans around the world, of which Pop Up Book is the 23rd product to be made into an official Lego set.
