Zuru responds to Which? slime allegations

Published on: 14th December 2018

Following a Which? report on “unsafe slimes”, Zuru has commissioned independent testing of its Oosh compound.

In a statement, the company says: “Zuru prides itself on creating innovative, safe, fun toys for children of all ages. As with all of our products, our Oosh play compound range has been carefully manufactured to the very highest standards and tested by accredited laboratories to ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards. We were therefore surprised by claims made by Which? that one of two Zuru Oosh products tested allegedly failed to meet requisite safety standards, and disappointed that the allegations were released without obtaining comment from Zuru. We are yet to receive any scientific evidence to support the allegations.

As soon as we were made aware of these claims, we immediately commissioned independent testing of samples from the Oosh range on sale in the UK. The reports from this testing – which are available to any interested parties upon request – confirmed that the samples did indeed fall inside safe limits for Boron content. The safety of our products is paramount to us and we would like to reassure customers that they can remain confident in the safety and quality of Zuru products.”
