MCM London Comic Con October 2020 is cancelled

Published on: 2nd July 2020

The October event has been cancelled due to the ongoing effects of Covid-19.

The organiser of the MCM London Comic Con, ReedPop, has announced that the October event has been cancelled. Currently the London ExCel Centre is still on standby as an emergency hospital. As the venue for MCM London Comic Con, the October show will not be able take place as planned. A statement from ReedPop reads as follows:

“Today, ReedPOP has an important announcement to make. Despite our best efforts to bring our fans the most epic pop culture event in the UK, MCM Comic Con London, scheduled to take place in October 2020, has been cancelled.

MCM Comic Con London is not just an event that happens twice a year, it is a community of loving, passionate and creative fans who inspire us every day. Our aim since the beginning has always been to put on the best events we can for those fans. With the restrictions and guidelines put in place due to Covid-19, we know we will be unable to deliver the high quality experience our fans and exhibitors have come to expect and value from our events.

After extensive discussions with local and national authorities, and after listening to our fans and exhibitors, we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this event.

We’d like to thank those who look forward to our events every year as a place of acceptance and safety, and those who have waited patiently during this challenging and unprecedented time whilst difficult decisions were being made. Although we can’t celebrate together physically, we aren’t going anywhere. We are still here online to bring you amazing experiences and all the pop culture content you love, and can’t wait to celebrate with you for a special online event in August.

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by Covid-19. Rest assured, we are working hard to make sure that when it is safe to do so, we will return as a physical event.”
