Generation Media partners with Every Child Online

Published on: 23rd February 2021

The partnership with Every Child Online will see Generation Media join the national mission to ensure all UK children have online access.

As a result of restrictions forcing children to learn at home during the Covid pandemic, many schools have discovered a surprising number of pupils without access to a computer or the internet, some even attempting to complete homework set by their teachers on a mobile phone.  In attempts to close the educational gap, Generation Media has forged a partnership with Every Child Online to ensure every child has online access.

“There are schools throughout the country struggling to provide effective home learning to their less advantaged pupils,” explained Mike Tarbard, co-founder of Every Child Online. “Despite teachers’ efforts, kids without a computer or online access may be getting behind in their studies. With Generation Media’s incredible support and tech donations, we’re able to get closer to our goal in closing the educational gap and ensuring all our children have the correct equipment to successfully participate in learning from home.”

As well as missing out on learning, those without online connections miss ‘the sense of belonging’ from staying in touch with their friends and teachers. Any organisation can help do something about this 21st centre issue, by donating old computer equipment or raising funds for new software, monitors, the cost of data and other computer accessories needed.

Lisa Morgan, MD of Generation Media commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Every Child Online on this initiative. While children should be shortly be set to return to school, the mission of ensuring every child has access to online services is far from over. The organisation has done a remarkable job so far during the national lockdowns to bring technology to those children who are most at need. Our partnership aims to help continue this great work”.

On top of the partnership, Generation Media will be providing marketing activities to the scheme, all free of charge.
