Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has revealed that almost 10,000 Duelists took part in this year’s European Yu-Gi-Oh! National Championships, a record-breaking number for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG in Europe.
9,935 Duelists competed in 20 national events across the continent, culminating in last weekend’s 2023 European World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The winner is Jessica Robinson from UK, who was crowned this year’s European Champion after a tensely fought victory in the finals.
She, along with six other top finishers from the European WCQ, have also earned qualification for the prestigious Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship (WCS) 2023, the grandest stage for the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. They’ll be among the final 32 Duelists competing for the title of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Champion.
The highly anticipated tournament, returning for the first time since 2019, will take place on 5th-6th August at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) in Japan, featuring the best Duelists from across the globe. The Yu-Gi-Oh! WCS 2023 will feature three separate tournaments for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and, for the first time ever, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.
