The Toy Retailers Association has awarded a Golden Teddy to Stephen Town.as he retires from the toy industry.
Steve has worked a lifetime in toys including companies such as Lorimers, Westgate Co-op, Youngsters and SMF. During those years, and for many years after, Steve took on a leadership role on the TRA Council. Steve was a TRA Council member for more than 17 years, 16 of those as Treasurer, playing a leadership role in directing the work of the association and ensuring the association has represented the needs of the members it serves.
Whilst fulfilling these roles and responsibilities, Steve has always been kind, thoughtful and a true gentleman. The TRA therefore wanted to acknowledge his hard work, his kindness and his commitment to the industry with a Golden Teddy award.
His proposer and seconder said of him: “He is dedicated and committed, loyal, kind, trustworthy and has total integrity whilst remaining a thoroughly lovely person”.
“His niceness comes in many facets. He always makes time for people and he is genuinely interested in those he meets. He has remained as treasurer long past his desired retirement plan, in order to support the work of the TRA for members now and into the future.
Steve accepted his award at a dinner, surrounded by peers from the world of toy retailing, and partnered by his wife Irene.
