Exclusive: Holotoyz – a company to tech seriously

Holotoyz believes augmented reality has endless possibilities, especially in the educational and licensing space.

Toy World spoke to Kate Scott, marketing & business development manager, and Declan Fahy, sales and business manager, Holotoyz, to discuss new launches and upcoming plans after a successful market debut for the company in 2020.

Kate and Declan are parents of two children aged four and six, and together have over 20 years’ experience working in sales and digital marketing. They have seen first-hand the key role that technology plays in their children’s lives and feel it’s important to recognise the role technology will play in the world they’re growing up in.

With this in mind, the couple felt there was an opportunity to create a range of products that would enable children to interact with something tangible, but which brings that added element of ‘magic’ to it.

Kate and Declan told Toy World how 2020 has been for Holotoyz – a year they describe as “interesting and motivating for the team”. At Spielwarenmesse, the company received phenomenal interest in its range, which continued in New York. At home in Ireland, the feedback was taken on board, as work began on creating a new brand and app.

The range, which launched at various retailers in Ireland, initially includes temporary tattoos, stickers, books and wall decals that all come to life in stunning 3D animation when scanned with the free HoloToyz app, which is 100% child-friendly, free to download, easy to use, with no advertising or in-app purchases.

The company has now secured distribution across France, Belgium and Luxembourg, and now aims to establish and grow the HoloToyz brand across as many countries as possible. Product development is ongoing, with new products slated for launch  towards the end of 2021.
