Golden Bear announces Soccer Bot partnership and LA previews

Published on: 29th August 2023

A content partnership for the latest SmartBall football Soccer Bot has been revealed, alongside Golden Bear’s LA show offerings.

Golden Bear Toys has announced that it is teaming up with two of the world’s best football freestylers to launch the new high-tech football for AW23: Soccer Bot.

F2 Freestyler and YouTube sensation Billy Wingrove and his family The Wingroves are filming exclusive content of the family putting their football skills to the test as they play the brand new SmartBall Soccer Bot. Content will be streamed from September across the Wingroves’ social media platforms. The family has a following of 2.8m on TikTok and 1.7m subscribers on YouTube.

The current Under 16 Football Freestyle World Champion, Isabel Watkins, will also take on the Soccer Bot, creating content for Golden Bear social channels which will appear from September.

The latest incarnation of the SmartBall range, the Soccer Bot is unique because it has been designed to play with indoors, using the latest smart sensor technology to move around a designated area whilst tracking the ball and trying to tackle. Equipped with three different skill levels, it is the ultimate test for any football fan.

Barry Hughes, MD of Golden Bear said: “We are excited to have such talent on board for the SmartBall Soccer Bot launch. As you can play it safely inside, in a small space, we are hoping the content will inspire keen footballers to enjoy an exciting game of football indoors while keeping parents happy that nothing is going to get broken.”

Over half a million Smart Ball units have sold in the UK, and a plethora of awards have been scooped, helping Golden Bear maintain its position as one of the top manufacturers within the sports activity toy category.

The new SmartBall Soccer Bot will debut in Golden Bear’s Los Angeles showroom space this September. Golden Bear will have three showrooms next to each other in 1960 E Grand Avenue, as the company seeks to expand its presence in the family and party games sector, a key long term business strategy for the brand.

Golden Bear will reveal a host of new games ready to hit the global market at the LA show, including Mind Meld.

In this fast-paced, new game, based on the popular TikTok trend, players are invited to shout out a word and challenge others to try and mindread and achieve the ultimate Mind Meld. With two game modes to choose from – head-to-head or in a group – Mind Meld is the perfect game for any occasion and for players of all ages.

With a pedigree spanning 40 years of innovative and creative toy making for some of the world’s most popular and iconic pre-school licensed brands, Golden Bear will also be presenting its newest toys including Bing, Hey Duggee, In the Night Garden, CoComelon, Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig.

Extensions to the company’s award-winning, own IP, interactive plush range, Curlimals, will be a big focus. AW23 sees the range extend with new Arctic Glow Curlimals, including Perry Polar Bear and Pip Penguin featuring super-soft sparkly fur, Arctic animal sounds and a light-up belly which changes colour. Also new for AW23, Flutter Wonder Bella Bear brings a new play pattern to the range with sparkly, light up wings which flutter to show how she’s feeling.

Barry Hughes added: “LA in September has become one of the most important shows from an international perspective as the timing is right to preview new product for the following fall season. We are delighted to be in what is turning out to be the main toy building this year at 1960 E Grand Avenue, and look forward to welcoming current and new customers to our triple showroom.”

Golden Bear will be in LA between 13th and 27th September. To make an appointment, email Claire Vernon: c.vernon@goldenbeartoys.co.uk.
