About 100 customers lined up outside Harry’s Toy Chest in Truro on Saturday for its 4th anniversary.
In the early hours of Saturday, 9th December, Victoria Square, in the city of Truro, was inundated with fans of the toy store. Customers were already waiting at 5:15am for the chance to win prizes in celebration of Harry’s Toy Chest’s fourth year in business.
To treat his loyal customers, 24-year-old owner Harry Stacey offered to give the first 10 people who entered on Saturday £100 vouchers. In addition, everyone who queued was entered into a raffle to win a rare Lego UCS Millennium Falcon from the Lego Star Wars range. There were also goody bags filled with Pokémon cards, Lego and mystery vouchers.
Harry provided pre-paid coffee and hot chocolate to all customers queuing up later that morning courtesy of 108 Coffee House in Kenwyn Street, as the shop wasn’t to open until 11am.
He told Cornwall Live: “I turned up at 8am thinking there’d be a few people. But there must have been 100 people outside. Some of the customers had been there since 5.15am with their camp chairs and blankets. Most of them are among my regulars; they’re my most die hard fans. But I really didn’t expect it to be like that, I just couldn’t believe it.”
Harry’s Toy Chest posted on Facebook that the event exceeded all expectations and thanked all its customers for their support.
Customer David MJ, commented on the post: “Harry, you’re an inspiration to young (and older) entrepreneurs, and we’re so happy to have been around since the early days. Great deals, smart decisions and a lovely attitude serve you really well. Loved being there today.”
