Joshua Craddock is putting his best foot forward for The Toy Trust this year, announcing that he’ll be undertaking an epic feat of endurance on behalf of the charity by running the iconic Lantau Trail in Hong Kong.

The 12-section trail, which first opened to the public in 1984, is Hong Kong’s third longest trail and Lantau island’s most popular hiking trail. Taking in stunning scenery, picturesque fishing villages and breath-taking coastlines, the route climbs Sunset Peak and Lantau Peak, Hong Kong’s second and third highest mountains, and a total elevation of 3,500. It is beloved by walkers and tourists, many of whom choose to walk certain sections of the route and camp along the way.

However, clearly not one to shy away from a challenge, Josh – director of the family-owned British company Kid Kreations – will attempt to run the Lantau Trail this month. On his official Just Giving page, he says: “In March I’ll be taking on Hong Kong’s Lantau Trail, 70km (43.75 miles) long with a few mountains and a total elevation gain of 11,000+ feet. It will be beautiful, it will be challenging, there will be tears and I’d love for all to be for a good cause. I couldn’t think of a more deserving beneficiary than The Toy Trust. No donation is too small and all will be greatly appreciated.”

Founded by the BTHA, The Toy Trust exists to raise money mainly from the toy industry, its suppliers and friends. The charity distributes the money raised during these kinds of challenges to charities helping disabled and disadvantaged children in the UK and overseas. Josh’s goal amount is £1,000, with the industry encouraged to demonstrate its trademark generosity in helping him achieve this. Donations can be made here.

Here in the UK, Midsummer Mayhem gives readers the chance to take part in a range of (potentially far less gruelling) fundraising activities during May, June and July. Activities can be chosen by companies and individuals, with a range of fundraising ideas to help get teams started here.

Toy World would like to wish Josh all the very best with his long-distance Lantau Trail run and hopes he meets his £1,000 target.
