Outdoor Play Awards expands for 2019

Published on: 10th May 2019

With just a month to go before the awards, the play space has been expanded to accommodate the influx of entries.

The outdoor toy category has had a very solid start to the year, buoyed by some above-average temperatures, the impending half-term and the lengthy summer school holidays, all of which look set to give the category a major boost.

As a result, entries for the 2019 Outdoor Toy Awards have been coming in so thick and fast that the organisers have decided to expand the play space so they can better accommodate the products submitted. All of the entries into the awards will be put to the test by well over 50 ‘Toyminators’ aged 5-14.

In addition to the media partnership with DC Thomson, which includes online and print coverage, the awards are also working with First News and have secured interest from a national UK newspaper to cover the event. In addition, a key broadcaster is set to spread the word further than ever before.

The awards final on the 9th June will be live-streamed, and a video created capturing all the fun of the day will be produced, with the winners and runners-up revealed across media well ahead of school summer holidays.

“Our aim is to assist in the selection of the very best outdoor toys for parents to pick to keep the kids up and active over the summer” said Peter Jenkinson (AKA the Toyologist), organiser of the awards. “We’re delighted to have attracted some of the best outdoor brands to our event such as Recreation, HTI, Thames and Kosmos, Sportspower and Feber by Geemac, Chad Valley, Little Tikes, Yvolve Sports, Minimasters and Zuru to name a few. We’re looking forward to the last minute avalanche of entries to ensure we can satisfy the insatiable appetite of our eager Toyminators on event day.”
