Oxford professor discovers how to complete Topps album for sub-£100

Published on: 22nd April 2024

Dr. Tom Crawford has crunched the numbers to find the most cost efficient way to complete the Topps UEFA Euro 2024 sticker album, which is now available.

Oxford University maths genius Dr Tom Crawford has revealed that collectors can complete their Topps Euro 2024 sticker album for less than £100 by following his unique method.

Topps provided Dr Tom Crawford of the University of Oxford – who has amassed millions of views solving maths problems on YouTube on his channel Tom Rocks Maths – with an exclusive sneak peek at how the Topps Euro 2024 sticker packs are configured, and he has now devised the easiest and cheapest way for collectors to complete the sticker book this summer.

Estimating that collectors only require a maximum of 100 packs to complete the UEFA Euro 2024 sticker album, Tom advises swapping rare parallels for other regular stickers. As an example, one green parallel could be worth at least 600 regulars, so obtaining one of these early on could help collectors complete their album even more easily.

As Dr Tom’s method relies on obtaining rare parallel stickers, he recommends purchasing Topps’ Mega Eco Boxes: these contain multiple rare stickers that will supercharge any collection. Combining Dr Tom’s method with the well-known system of swapping duplicate stickers for the ones needed should allow everyone to complete their collection for less than £100.

Dr Tom Crawford explained: “Swapping parallels for regulars is the most efficient method if your sole objective is to complete your collection the fastest – while the rare stickers look cool, they won’t help you get the random defender you’ve been searching for all summer. The theory suggests that it will take 100 packs to complete the collection, but if you get lucky with your parallels you could complete it even quicker.”

Patrick Rausch, chief Marketing officer EMEA of Fanatics Collectibles and Topps, added: “Collecting stickers is for everyone and is ingrained in football culture around big tournaments. We’re delighted to be bringing fans the official UEFA Euro 2024 sticker collection, and Dr Tom’s research offers some efficient tips and tricks to help fans complete their collection this summer.”

Tom has also determined that the gold one-of-one Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the most valuable sticker in the collection, could be swapped for enough stickers to complete the collection over 150 times.

The sticker collection launched earlier this month, with sticker-obsessed broadcasting duo Roman Kemp and Chris Stark featuring in a tongue-in-cheek viral #WeAllSticker video as the latest activity in Topps’ UEFA Euro 2024 campaign, which has also featured adverts with Jose Mourinho, a giant mosaic of Scotland captain Andy Robertson made from over 5,000 Topps UEFA Euro 2024 Match Attax trading cards, and content from multiple creators, ambassadors and footballing royalty.

The Topps UEFA Euro 2024 stickers are available as single packets, Starter Packs containing the album and 24 stickers, Eco Packs and Multipacks, Starter Tins, Mega Eco Boxes and 100-pack Display Boxes.

As an official licensed UEFA partner until 2028, Topps will provide exclusive trading cards, stickers, and collectibles connected to UEFA Euro 2024 as well as other marquee football events including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The UEFA Euro 2024 range will include stickers, cards and collectibles of each competing national team.
