Wow! Stuff inks deal with Mattel for N. America launch of Nano Pods

The ‘connectable collectible’ Nano Pods range takes iconic licensed characters from popular culture and houses them within a nano-sized hexagonal pod.

Nano PodsToy innovation company Wow! Stuff has inked a deal to appoint Mattel as the official North American distributor of its in-house IP, Nano Pods.

Dubbed by its maker as the ‘connectable collectible’, and unveiled at Spielwarenmesse earlier this month, Nano Pods is a unique and patent-pending brand which takes iconic licensed characters and houses them within a nano-sized hexagonal pod. Each pod features a satisfying, tactile slot-together system: as kids collect characters from brands such as Marvel, Disney, Wizarding World, TMNT and Jurassic, they simply connect each character’s pod to the one next to it to build patterns and unique displays.

Richard North, president of Wow! Stuff, said: “For Mattel to come on board as the North American distribution partner for Nano Pods is a huge opportunity, and we are so pleased to be partnering with it on this milestone moment for our company. The team at Mattel has shared its excitement for the range with us from day one and has been a real pleasure to work with.”

Richard added: “We’re excited to see where Mattel takes the brand and look forward to the team replicating the momentum that’s building in the UK, Europe and Asia where every major toy retailer is listing the line.”

“We are excited to welcome Wow! Stuff and the Nano Pods to Mattel,” said PJ Lewis, vice president and global head of Action Figures at Mattel. “The product is quite simply irresistible and highly collectible. The IP breadth, connectability of the pods and character connectivity really make the Nano Pods unique, and a great new way for Mattel to connect with fans of each character.”

With an SRP of $4.99 in North America, Nano Pods are available in blind mystery boxes across many leading licensed character brands including Marvel, Disney, DC, TMNT, Sonic, Jurassic and more.

Released in waves from April, and featuring a collector’s guide in each box, each brand will benefit from chase, rare and exclusive characters to drive repeat purchase and retail footfall, as well as special reveals to collect and connect.
