Shore Buddies of San Diego, California USA, has announced the appointment of Kids International Marketing as its exclusive sales partner for all international sales.

Shore Buddies is the world’s first plush animal range to be made from 100% post-consumer, recycled plastic bottles. It also educates children at a young age about the dangers of single use plastic for marine life and how to keep plastics out of the ocean.

The initial offering features seven different designs of Shore Buddies plush in 30cm and 5cm sizes, with or without a sound chip which plays the real sounds made by the animal. Each Shore Buddy raises awareness about a different cause that leads to ocean plastic pollution.

The process involves six plastic bottles being recovered, sent to the factory and shredded into pellets, which are then melted and made into yarn which is used to make each 30cm plush animal. The company has already saved over 500,000 bottles from entering the ocean.

Shore Buddies has been set up by Malte Niebelschuetz, whose mission is to improve the world by educating children about the dangers of single-use plastic for the environment, in the hope that they will continue to care for the environment as they grow older.

Kids International Marketing is seeking exclusive distribution partners, in all markets, who share the same values as the Shore Buddies brand.

Commenting on the agreement, Kim Carter, international sales management, Kids International Marketing, said: “We are excited to work with Shore Buddies, as well as with other brands in our portfolio, to give back a little and move to a more sustainable world.”
