Love Monster partners with Comic Relief for Red Nose Day 2022

Published on: 18th November 2021

The lovable star of CBeebies’ quirky animated pre-school adventure series is teaming up with Comic Relief to help raise money for Red Nose Day 2022.

The collaboration will see the one-of-a-kind, heart-warming hero feature on the Red Nose Day early years fundraising packs. Red Nose Day takes place on Friday 18th March 2022. Tying in with Love Monster’s love of DJing and partying with the residents of Fluffytown, the pack has a festival theme and contains everything young fundraisers need to raise money and help change lives. It also explains the background to Red Nose Day, gives ideas and tips for nursery fundraising activities, and provides helpful information such as sponsorship forms and how to submit donations.

In addition to a host of fun activities, this year Comic Relief is also producing a range of bespoke mental health learning resources for nurseries. The resources will support early years practitioners as they increase awareness among young children on mental health and how to explore emotions. A range of real-life case studies will also be made available to help practitioners demonstrate to children how their fundraising efforts can make a difference to the lives of others.

The partnership reflects the values and messages of Love Monster, which helps pre-schoolers understand and manage different emotions and showcases the importance of kindness, empathy, connection and instinct.

Fatima Ribeiro, executive director of Fundraising and Creative at Comic Relief, said: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with CBeebies’ Love Monster for Red Nose Day 2022. The much-loved children’s character and his Fluffytown friends will help bring our fundraising ideas and learning resources to life and engage our youngest supporters in a fun, accessible and interactive way. We’re excited to launch the packs and mental health learning materials early next year, to help more young children learn about important issues whilst also having fun.”

Tony Ree, genre lead Puppetry and Animation, BBC Children’s Productions, added: “BBC Children’s is thrilled to be teaming up with Comic Relief once again. Love Monster helps the BBC’s youngest audience to understand why they are feeling what they are feeling and how to deal with their emotions. This really is a wonderful collaboration and we are proud to be involved.”

Nicola Herrmann, Brand Director, Boat Rocker, said: “Full of heart and fun, Love Monster celebrates inclusive behaviour and collaboration, with a lovable hero who’s always searching for the right thing to do. It makes Love Monster the perfect choice to help youngsters get together to raise funds for this fantastic cause and we look forward to seeing him wearing his Red Nose with pride.”

The pack will be available to download from comicrelief.com/rednoseday in January 2022 and will be shared with thousands of nurseries across the country.
