Ravensburger announces new Lord of the Rings game

The Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game immerses players into the movie trilogy through a page turning adventure.

Ravensburger, acclaimed publisher behind award-winning board games and high-quality puzzles, has announced The Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game, a storybook-style board game that drops players into the legendary Lord of the Rings movie trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game is available for pre-order sales and will be on sale at retail in March.

As the third entry into Ravensburger’s adventure book range, the game allows fans to uniquely play and relive iconic The Lord of the Rings storylines and key moments in ‘chapters’ that are experienced over eight different, thoughtfully designed board game ‘pages’ in the style of a hardback book. Featuring attractive artwork and detailed miniatures, the game allows for flexible play for solo or co-operative family gaming, enabling players to choose their style of adventure. They will complete challenges and avoid the Eye of Sauron alongside Frodo, Aragorn and others in this immersive page-turning adventure board game, which is suitable for up to four players, ages 10 and upwards.

In the game, Sauron’s shadow has fallen across Middle-earth, and the One Ring must be destroyed. To complete their daunting quest, players will need to work together to help cherished Lord of the Rings characters journey from The Shire to the fires of Mordor, all while avoiding the Eye of Sauron.

“The Lord of the Ring’s immersive story world unfolded perfectly in our adventure book board game format,” said Shanon Lyon, Game development manager at Ravensburger.

“We designed the game to capture the detail and thoroughness that Lord of the Rings fans have come to know and love from Ravensburger games. The thrill of the series’ iconic moments truly jumps off of the board game pages,” she added.

The launch will be supported by a marketing and PR campaign from March onwards.
