The partnership has allowed Edx Education to take its products directly to kids in Taiwanese villages, thanks to Zhi-Shan's new mobile kindergarten van.

18 months ago, education and development specialist Edx Education partnered with the Asian kids charity Zhi-Shan Foundation to offer the benefits of its portfolio to kids in Taiwan.

From its beginnings supporting elementary school kids in indigenous communities, helping them to receive adequate education and empowering families by providing a support system for parents or grandparents, Zhi-Shan's outreach programme was then expanded to kindergarten-aged children as well.

With the assistance of Edx Education a mobile kindergarten van was created. With villages widely spread out, and locations suitable for all children therefore hard to pin down, the van has allowed the charity to travel to more remote villages than ever before, bringing developmental learning activities to children who haven’t previously been able to access formal education opportunities. The van allows Zhi-Shan to take toys, books, teachers and social workers to more than 12 locations in the mountains near Taiwan's Hsinchu County.

The mobile kindergarten also provides cultural courses and a toy library service.

"Getting involved with the Zhi-Shan foundation mobile kindergarten has been one of the most rewarding projects for Edx Education, said Murray Jackson, CEO, Edx Education. "Zhi-Shan feeds back amazing stories about the positive changes, increase in communication, ability to reach remote areas, provision of education opportunities and so much more for families, villages and communities. This has been a wonderful experience for our Edx team to be part of.”

Founded 25 years ago, Edx Education has launched numerous home learning games and kits such as Rainbow Pebbles, GeoLand, GeoStix, the EarlyMath101 range and FunPlay Rods, Cubes and Blocks. Edx’s portfolio is supported by a raft of online resources for parents, teachers, caregivers and distributors to review and download, including a play blog, podcasts, games, videos and free downloadable resources for home learning.
