Party game Muffin Time raises £1m on Kickstarter

Published on: 16th September 2019

The card game hit its original £10,000 target in less than 24 hours.

Muffin Time reached the £1000,000 mark on September 13th, which is a whopping 10,000% increase from its original Kickstarter  target.

The card game was invented by YouTube stars Turbo Punch, who took its asdfmovie series and transformed it into a game where absolutely anything can happen. The creation was officially released for the public to back 30 days ago, reaching its goal of £10,000 within the hour. Since then, it’s been backed by over 24,000 gamers around the world.

Muffin Time is packed with 200 completely unique cards, along with exciting stretch goals that have been unlocked throughout the campaign. New cards have been added, the box has been made holographic, and a cuddly muffin plush has been included with each copy of the game. Hitting the £1m mark has also unlocked the final stretch goal – a muffin pin badge.

The stretch goals were carefully curated by Nat Aves, who managed the campaign on behalf of Big Potato. He said: “Managing this Kickstarter has been like looking after a T-Rex on wheels. It’s been unpredictable, it’s been nerve-wracking, and I’ve watched it smash through every target in it’s path. Ultimately though, it’s been an incredible experience and easily one of the best projects I’ve worked on at Big Potato – I just can’t believe it’s nearly over.”

Muffin Time will be hitting shelves across the UK from April 2020. Retailers interested in stocking the card game should get in touch with Emily Polglase, Big Potato’s head of sales, at emily@bigpotato.co.uk.
