Fireman Sam to educate young pet owners on the dangers of leaving dogs in hot cars

Published on: 11th July 2018

A special Fireman Sam Safety Short video has been created for YouTube, as the UK experiences a long, hot summer.

Fireman Sam has joined an RSPCA-led coalition of organisations taking part in the Dogs Die in Hot Cars campaign, which aims to help keep dogs safe in warm weather. The campaign, which runs annually, raises awareness of the dangers of leaving pets, including dogs, in cars, caravans, conservatories and outbuildings during periods of potentially dangerous weather.

To help educate the next generation of pet owners, a special Fireman Sam Safety Short video has been created highlighting the dangers of leaving dogs in hot cars. The CG-animated video will be available on the Fireman Sam YouTube channel from Friday as part of the Fireman Sam Animal Safety Shorts Series, which includes a further three videos aimed at children and families on how to keep their pets safe and well. To help spread the important campaign messaging even further, for the first time ever, Fireman Sam will be completing press interviews himself and will talk directly to children and families about these and other important safety issues this summer.

Andy Gosling, marketing director of Mattel Europe, commented: “Fireman Sam is a loved and trusted brand by parents and children around the world with important messages about fire safety. The Fireman Sam Safety Shorts YouTube Series offers a unique opportunity for Sam to further educate pre-schoolers and their parents on animal welfare through age-appropriate and engaging content. We are proud to be joining the annual Dogs Die in Hot Cars campaign, to help bring these important messages and information to fans of Fireman Sam, working to ensure everyone – regardless of their age – knows what to do if they see a dog left alone in a car in distress.”
