John Adams supports Speedcubing Championship with Rubik’s sponsorship

The UK Speedcubing championships take place this weekend, 26th-28th October, in Stevenage.

This weekend the world’s elite Speedcubers, who can solve the classic puzzle in sub-6 seconds, will meet at The Forum in Stevenage to the compete in the annual UK Cube Association’s Speedcubing UK Championship.

John Adams is supporting the event with a Rubik’s branded sponsorship agreement. Attendees will compete for the many records up for grabs, with the main hopefuls in line to smash the sport’s previous results across many of the disciplines.

Entrants as young as seven years old are taking their place to stake their claim as a new speedcubing champ. Many of the previous years’ under-10s are now leading the field and smashing new records all the time – some of which are sponsored and speedcube for a living.

Like all sportspeople, speedcubers have their own warm-up routines and rituals which all add to the excitement of the competition, from clapping their hands together to get the blood flowing and running their hands under warm water, to solving a cube harder than the one they’re about to solve.

The UK Championship comprises 18 official events, with the culmination being the crowning of the 3×3 Rubik’s Cube champion on Sunday 28th October. The other competitions in the three-day event include the following speedsolving events: 2×2, 4×4, 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 solves; additional 3×3 events using one-hand, fewest moves and with feet; 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5 blindfolded; Pyraminx, Square-1, Megaminx and Rubik’s Clock.
