Mastermind Toys invites suppliers to its Play Preview

Published on: 4th December 2020

The Canadian retailer’s inaugural Play Preview aims to bridge the gap between itself and suppliers left by the cancellation of trade shows.

Mastermind Toys is Canada’s largest specialty toy and children’s book retailer, with 68 stores coast-to-coast and what it calls a ‘wonder-filled website’. Proudly billing itself as ‘Canada’s Authority on Play’, Mastermind Toys works hard to be ahead of the trends and discover the very best in play, while always keeping an eye on the end consumer. The Mastermind Toys brand is driven by great products for every age and stage, and as a result the retailer is very thoughtful in its product selection.

Having relied on the global toy fair calendar for many years, like so many others, the retailer now finds itself unable to see and touch product, or meet face-to-face with suppliers, inventors and manufacturers. With an eye on its 2021 offering, Mastermind Toys has now announced that it will be hosting its very own Mastermind Toys Play Preview, a virtual toy fair open to vendors worldwide.

Participants must complete the application form by December 31st for an opportunity to be part of the Mastermind Toys Play Preview. Select submissions will be paired with one or more of the retailer’s category buyers and given the opportunity to showcase their product line to identify whether there is a fit at Mastermind Toys for 2021. Mastermind Toys will reach out to those selected to meet in mid-January.

The CEO of Mastermind Toys, Sarah Jordan, spoke to Toy World for the December issue of the magazine, telling us what it was like taking up the role just before the pandemic, and how the company aims to make Christmas extra special for Canadian kids this year. Click here to read the full article.
