StackaWraps brings eco cardboard solutions to the toy industry

Published on: 8th December 2020

The company uses sustainable materials to transform 2D artwork into 3D retail displays.

StackaWraps is a leading 3D innovator of designing augmented die lines; panels of card that slot together to create a solid, photorealistic, panoramic embellishment. The pop out elements are designed and printed using specialised techniques which result in a high quality, realistic 3D effect and precise replication of the original flat shape without distortion. StackaWraps displays can be found in supermarkets and retail outlets all over the world; the company was recently presented with a gold award for one of its Coca Cola displays in Italy.

With consideration for the environment at the forefront of its innovations, the team works only with sustainable materials and sustainability-minded manufacturers that support the evolution of the company’s latest toy and gifting designs. Specifications are plastic-free and fully recyclable, with low carbon logistics and excellent cost efficiency. Developed for build-your-own activities, the resulting photorealistic pieces are ideal for permanent display and collection.

StackaWraps’ commercial director, Richard Horne, said: “The creative team has utilised its lockdown down time to get this backburner over the line. We have been toying with the ideation for some time, and have spent upwards of £100k on R&D refining the applications and green credentials. We are now actively widening our network to onboard retail partners for their own-brand lines and licensed goods.”

A deal has already been struck with a licence holder for many of the leading UK football clubs, and talks are underway with leading sports brands in the USA.

The new hybrid poster/models have modular 3D elements that fit together without compromising high quality photorealism, and fit inside an envelope for low cost, low carbon logistics. With endless possibilities for the applications, the 3D innovators are open to teaming up with online and retail toy retailers to bring these sustainable designs directly to consumers.

“The business model has been made really simple,” says Ralph Collins, head of Consumer Opportunities at StackaWraps. “We welcome brands, toy companies or anybody selling consumer products – either in-store or online – to commission the conversion of 2D artwork into 3D. It’s a really exciting time for the StackaWraps consumer division, and yet another string to our bow.”

StackaWraps opportunities for own label partnerships are available now for 2021. More info can be found at www.stackawraps.com/consumer-and-gifting or by emailing ralph.collins@stackawraps.com.
