Tesco unveils top ten toys for Christmas

Published on: 6th October 2021

Tesco’s toy buyers have revealed their top picks for this Christmas to give parents some insight into what’s been popular in toys this year.

As the countdown to the big day begins in earnest, Tesco has offered a bit of help to those making a start on their Christmas lists.

The supermarket reported an impressive 400% increase in demand for board games and kidult toys during lockdown, and buyers believe that many of the trends from this period are set to continue.

Category manager for Toys, Nursery and Sport, Anne Borrett said: “Lockdown created a unique scenario with many parents and children able to spend more time than ever together and this has brought about a huge ongoing demand for kidult toys – trusted brands that still bring joy to grown-ups as much as their kids.”

Tesco also predicts that the release of two major films means these toys will be popular this festive season, as families throughout the UK have enjoyed the recent release of Paw Patrol: The Movie, and look forward to next year’s Jurassic World Dominion movie, the latest in the popular dinosaur franchise.

“Choosing presents for your little ones at Christmas is never an easy task but we hope that this list gives parents a little bit of insight into what’s been popular in the world of toys this year,” added Anne.
